Simple Sample Socks, Dove Gray

34.00

I speed-knitted these socks in a soft, thick-ish merino wool to test a prototype sock blocker design I am working on. (What in heaven's name is a 'sock blocker' you ask? Well, type it into a search engine and prepare for your world to be rocked! But back to the socks:) These are not as fancy as the tweed and alpaca cable socks I normally knit for customers. They are, however, pleasingly soft and fluffy.

The Dove Gray merino makes for a serene, neutral, respectable sort of sock, while the 'seed stitch ribbing' provides some visual and textural interest.

This pair is a Size Medium (size 40 or so), best suited for a longish narrow foot. They are however stretchy and will adapt to the size and shape of your feet, within reason.

Caring for your socks:
If you are new to handmade wool socks, be aware these are not meant to be washed after every wear! The wool is resistant to odours; you should be able to get many wears out of them before you have to wash them. Think of them as sweaters for your feet and treat them as you would a sweater. Air them out now and again and they'll be grand.

When you do decide to wash the socks: Hand wash gently in lukewarm water, using soap or wool wash. Squeeze out excess moisture by hand, or by pressing into a towel; do not twist. Lay flat to dry, using sock blockers if possible.
